Job Description – Country Director
Context
Transitions operates four programs in Cambodia, which serve the needs of sexually trafficked girls and their families through a continuum of services designed to provide holistic care with the goal of successful reintegration into society.
Transitions is seeking a strong leader to convey the vision and mission of the organization and provide clear on-the-ground guidance and direction to our Khmer and Western staff, ensuring that our objectives and goals are achieved in an effective and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement Transitions’ programs and projects. • Support the development of Transitions’ Strategic Plan. Guide the in-country team to ensure that all activities fit within the goals and objectives of Transitions’ Strategic Plan. Work with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operations Officer (COO) to guarantee effective implementation of strategy within programs and projects. • Leadership training and development of local staff. • Promote the work of Transitions through social media, speaking engagements, and other opportunities to share Transitions’ work with audiences around the globe. • Monitoring and Evaluation of Transitions’ projects Analyze results to inform program direction and overall organizational aims. • Develop and implement an educational plan for each of Transitions’ clients in conjunction with the Clinical Team and Shine Social Worker. • Ensure all projects and activities occur within the Transitions Child Protection Policy (CPP).
Grant Management
• Manage all Transitions’ grants. Tasks include grant writing; on-time reporting; maintaining donor/foundation relationships; keeping Transitions’ grant database updated; and exploring new funding opportunities. • Provide updated budgets and/or financial reporting for the executive team, and grant agencies as necessary. • Work with the CEO, Development Director, Chief Operations Officer and/or Board of Directors to develop and implement donor agreements and proposals for funding for current and proposed projects.
Partnership Development and Support
• Develop and support partner relationships in Cambodia with key agencies and organizations that provide support, funding, capacity building, and/or general exposure for Transitions’ programs. Provide Transition Executive Staff (CEO, COO, Board of Directors) with quarterly and annual progress reports on in-country projects. • Represent Transitions in meetings and networking events pertinent to the missions, aims and goals of the organization. • Regularly conduct oversight measures to ensure high quality project outputs in order to maintain positive relations among Transitions Cambodia, organizational partners, and project communities and beneficiaries. • Develop and implement a partnership strategy that proactively engages partners at the local and national level in order to increase Transitions’ impact through alliances.
Program Oversight and Staff Development • Act as mentor and leadership trainer for Direct Care Staff, specifically for Dream Home and Shine Career School Directors of Operations. • Hold weekly meetings with Direct Care and Social Work Staff to ensure smooth operation of all four of Transitions projects. • Handle all in-country Human Resource issues. • Work with Direct Care Staff and Social Work Staff to ensure that appropriate decisions are made for Transitions’ clients. • Oversee all Transitions’ Interns, Fellows and Western Shine Career School teachers. • Design Shine Career School’s monthly schedule as needed in conjunction with Shine leadership.
Communication and Reporting
• Ensure that weekly and monthly narrative and financial reports are submitted to Transitions COO in a timely, accurate and professional manner. • Prepare, in liaison with COO and CFO, the annual budget plan and organize reporting for the annual report. • Provide timely and appropriate information about the program to the COO to produce our annual report, Project Every Girl blog, and Transitions newsletters in order to communicate with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders about clients’ progress. • Undertake any other activities related to the work of Transitions programs as directed by the COO.
Qualifications and Requirements • Fluency in English required. • 3-5 years of related work experience required; some overseas experience preferred. • Master Degree in Social Work, International Affairs, Public Health or related field preferred; Bachelor Degree in Social Work, International Relations or related field required. • Grant writing and management experience a plus. • Experience with Monitoring and Evaluation design and implementation is desirable. • Demonstrated ability to work in a team with people from diverse backgrounds. • Proven ability to lead staff. • Experience working with a range of individuals in civil society, government and the private sector. • Excellent analytical, oral presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter). • Excellent attention to detail. • Experience working with budgets is desirable. • Familiarity with South East Asia a plus. • Commitment to the cause of ending sex trafficking and furthering the status of girls and women around the world is essential.
