THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Brintnell property, currently being produced under both primary and polymer flooding, contains a vast resource of medium oil which is currently producing at significant rates with a large multi-year capital program in place. Canadian Natural is actively expanding the polymer flood and looking for an individual to be part of this opportunity to optimize and develop the asset.
Deliverables include:
• Work with other team members (Exploitation, Exploration, Land and Field Operations) to meet the production and financial targets in area of responsibility
• Work with team to recommend optimum injection / depletion strategies to maximize the company's assets
• Work closely with Field Operations to ensure that production is optimized and operating costs are within the company's targets
• Participate in Exploration by liaising with Surface Land, determining and designing drill pad locations and facility placement
• Research, evaluate and recommend completion/work over candidates focusing on inactive wells to maximize the company's oil and natural gas production
• Work with team members to generate area production and operating budgets
• Provide preliminary scoping and design for proposed facility and pipeline construction and upgrades and work with the Field Operations and Facilities teams to finalize these designs
• Provide cost estimates for and approve AFEs and mail ballots for wells and facilities, and check and approve related invoicing
• Track team capital expenditures and compare against budget
• Liaise with Production Accounting, Financial Accounting, Marketing, Joint Ventures and Commercial Operations as required
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Optimize the depletion strategies of the company's new and existing pools
• Promote innovation by recommending and implementing new recovery methods
• Find and develop new opportunities on existing and prospective company assets in cooperation with team
• Ensure and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the corporate reserves
• Provide recommendations on the completion and recompletion of new and existing wells
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 3+ years of industry experience with Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a P. Eng
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Surface and down hole production operations (oil and natural gas), polymer and water flooding, artificial lift methods, field compression and property evaluations
- Completions, workovers and production facilities and pipelines, ideally complemented by field experience
