The Role
To take responsibility for engineering performed within IES in support of the Technical Directorate.  Manage and take responsibility for engineering prepared within IES (generally feasibility level) and provide confidence in the deliverables prepared by our partners or Petrofac affiliates during the appraise, select, define or execute phases.  
A hands on approach will be required to manage and check the work undertaken by our affiliates or to undertake due diligence of deliverables and assumptions presented by our current or potential partners and subcontractors.
A proactive aptitude is essential, developing assumptions and solutions to efficiently make progress and add value to the project is fundamentally important to our working culture.   The work will be carried out in accordance with our HSSEIA, Quality and Business Management systems.
There is a requirement to help prepare for and participate in project/asset risk reviews in support of the IES Risk Assurance process,
The Engineering Manager will be based in our Technical Centre in our Woking, Surrey offices.  Regular attendance will be required at our London office to attend meetings and reviews.  Business travel to our other UK based and overseas assets and/or affiliate and subcontractor/project offices will also be required. 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Approve/review that engineering requirements and SOW has been addressed.
  • Liaise with development managers and BD to scope work requirements in terms of specific discipline input, multi-discipline engineering or due diligence activities.
  • Early phase value engineering approach to ensure that proposed development options meet the economic/commercial constraints.  Ensure that design intent is carried through all project phases.
  • Understanding of construction requirements/space constraints and the limitations that these could impose on engineering or equipment selection.
  • Provide input to latest technology applications – develop a close working relationship with Group Head of Technology.
  • Work closely with our business development/development managers, subsurface, wells, cost estimating, asset and operations teams to develop appropriate engineering solutions.
  • Technically responsible for all engineering work and allocating and supervising discipline engineers and subject matter experts within the IES facilities engineering team.
  • Capable of formulating resolutions to technically challenging and/or high profile issues with support from consultants and discipline Engineers and Senior Management as required.
  • Monitor the engineering progress, addresses shortfalls, develops recovery plans where required and ensures plans are implemented.
  • Responsible for planning/scheduling all engineering activities and manpower resource. Quantifies the total number of engineering deliverables, man-hour allocation and format of delivery, and other requirements for execution of the work
  • Participates in, and may lead, multi-discipline Engineering Design Reviews and provides all necessary input and approval to close out of actions.
  • Recruit and maintain core competency for IES technical requirements both in support of BD activities and technical expert advice to projects and operating assets.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, establishes performance criteria, identifies employee strengths and weaknesses and recommends training and development requirements.
  • Contribute to training and development of junior staff including identifying employee strengths and weaknesses and recommend training and development requirements. Provide coaching and mentoring as required.
  • Prepare for and participate in multi discipline (facilities, sub-surface, drilling and commercial) project/asset risk reviews/Risk Review Committees. Facilitate problem solving across teams if required.
  • Help develop or review CTRs engineering work to be undertaken by affiliates or sub-contractors.
  • Provide oversight or manage engineering activities undertaken by affiliates or third party contractors.
