Our Client - Is a far-reaching national Process and Design Engineering Firm. They are currently looking for a senior mechanical designer.
Job Description –
- Drafting detailed sketches, working plans and drawings from design concepts, verbal instructions and sketches and field notes.
- Assisting in design planning and detailing by preparing studies, layouts and other drawing preliminary work for projects.
- Drafting detailed drawings showing dimensions, materials and construction details.
- Preparation of preliminary working drawings from sketches and design calculations.
- Draws and sketches of structural features of a design.
- Checks drawings and calculations (if required) and make necessary or desired adjustments or changes.
- Assist in checking shop drawings, construction work, and materials for conformance to specifications and standards.
- Assists in instruction and supervision of other Designers as required.
- Assists in proposing, recommending and justifying changes in materials, construction methods, equipment installations and specifications.
- Keeps progress of drawing work.
- Designing and drawing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput;
- Developing a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines;
- Assistance in developing and evaluating theoretical designs.
- Discussing and solving problems with engineers, sub-contractors, suppliers and clients.
- Making sure a product can be made again reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
- Producing details of specifications and outline designs.
- Considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints.
- Working with other professionals, within and outside the engineering specialism.
Candidate Requirements –
- Tertiary qualification at from a technical institute for drafting.
- Knowledge of mining and minerals processing, mechanical and piping arrangements and details, standards and specifications.
- Knowledge of project environment and interface between different engineering disciplines.
