Senior Manager Fundraising

Senior Manager Fundraising
Based in Amsterdam
Full-time (40 hours)
Purpose of the position
The Senior Manager Fundraising will work closely with the Director Communications and Fundraising to develop and implement Fairfood International’s Fundraising strategy in such a way that:
- Fairfood International is guaranteed long-term strategic freedom and financial stability by significantly diversifying its funding sources and increasing its revenues
Department
The department Communications and Fundraising is composed of two specialized teams namely: Fundraising and Communications. Each team is composed of one senior manager and several managers; all lead by the Director Communications and Fundraising. The Senior Manager Fundraising supervises all Fundraising managers and reports directly to the Director Communications and Fundraising. 
Responsibilities
1. Fundraising Strategy development and implementation
The Senior Manager Fundraising works with the Director Communications and Fundraising in the planning, implementation and monitoring of a clear, coherent and effective fundraising strategy. The Senior Manager Fundraising works to grow Fairfood’s revenues over the coming years and to improve Fairfood’s financial sustainability by securing funds from new and diverse income streams.  He/She is responsible for achieving specific annual financial targets set by the Director Communications and Fundraising and the Executive Director, within budget and within agreed timeframes. He/She is responsible for improving Fairfood’s fundraising base, also by building relationships with new donors. The Senior Manager fundraising is expected to provide effective and pro-active donor stewardship to existing donors and strategic partners.
2. Managing Fundraising team members
The Senior Manager Fundraising also supervises other managers within the Fundraising team. He/She is responsible for creating a climate of teamwork and collaboration within the Fundraising team and with external parties. The Senior Manager Fundraising liaises with Fairfood’s advocacy team, operations department and communications team to build excellent cases for financial support to donors. He/She is responsible for motivating his/her team by giving the right amount of support and empowerment at all times. The Senior Manager Fundraising is approachable and shows good respect, empathy, and also exercises natural decision making skills. He/She takes ownership for the delivery of high quality results.
3. Hands-on fundraising
Besides coordinating the overall fundraising activities in the team the Senior Manager fundraising will also take a lead role in implementing the elements in the fundraising strategy related to international foundations and NGO’s and all other forms of fundraising, including governments and inter-governmental organisations, donor based fundraising, including individuals & major philanthropists, online donors and crowd funding, corporate & sponsoring and merchandising & events. He/she will be responsible for reaching out to potential new donors, building relationships and excellent account management of existing donors. He/She has an acute sense of where and when to engage opportunities for funding or collaboration with other parties and tactically acts upon them in very close collaboration with the communications team and the entire organisation.  
Competences
Proven skills in international institutional fundraising: foundations/trusts/institutions/ governments and Inter-Governmental Organisations
- Preferred experience in other fundraising strategies, such as crowd funding, sponsoring and donor based fundraising
- Proactive and able to deliver results on time and within given budget as well as strong budgeting skills
- Excellent planning, monitoring, evaluating and reporting abilities
- Able to  work under  in an environment with high work pressure
- Creative and able to think “outside the box”
- Outstanding writing and editing skills
- Demonstrated affinity with communications
- Fluency in oral and written English. Knowledge of additional languages (particularly Dutch) is an advantage
- He/She is a great networker and an excellent sales person
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with high-level officials in governments or international organisations 
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum University degree, preferably in marketing/communications
- 6 or more years of fundraising work experience in the non profit sector
- Extensive international work experience
- Experience in management multidisciplinary teams in a multicultural environment
- Very strong strategic and analytical abilities
- Demonstrable experience in writing successful funding proposals and applications
- Knowledge of sustainability issues, preferably those associated with the food sector is a prerequisite.
- Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally

The position is full-time. Fairfood International remunerates its staff in line with industry standards, including a gross salary of €50,368.05, a personal budget in lieu of pension of €4,029.44 and reimbursement of work-home travel.
