ROLE OUTLINE:
Our London office is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join our team engaged in all aspects of traffic and transportation engineering including transport assessments for new developments, masterplanning, urban regeneration projects and travel plans. The successful candidate should be capable of analysing difficult highway/transport issues and arriving at well thought out innovative solutions.  He or she will be expected to sensitively handle clients, council officers and other professionals, as well as be able to manage projects, budgets and junior staff to ensure delivery of demanding projects.

As part of your role you will be required to manage smaller individual projects and provide professional and technical support to associates and directors engaged in larger projects.  You will be proficient in using and analysing data from the various Transportation software packages.  As part of your input to the team and projects, you would be required to attend meetings and undertake site visits.  You will also be required to provide the necessary technical information and results for the production of reports and documents.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Setting and reviewing objectives, targets and performance of a small team
  • Management of relationships with key customers, suppliers and contacts relevant to team
  • Providing professional advice and support across the business
  • Monitors and ensures compliance and KPI’s
  • Day-to-day supervision / line management of team / department
  • Management of projects within time, cost and quality constraints and standards 
  • Estimating, pricing and delivering against work targets
  • Client liaison
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Understanding of and experience of working in the Planning Regulatory framework, and knowledge of planning and transport policy as applied to development.
  • Sound technical experience, including familiarity with relevant software e.g. TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY;
  • A working knowledge of the relevant highway standards, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual for Streets;
  • Capability to work to deadlines and work autonomously when required; and
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally).
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in some or all of the above fields, be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Transport Assessments and traffic modelling programs.
  • Experience of a range of Transport Planning solutions for both public and private sectors;
  • Experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy;
