Children's Garden Spring Instructors


The world-renowned Children's Garden at Brooklyn Botanic Garden has been a leader in providing children and teens with hands-on gardening experience for 99 years.
Responsibilities: Children's Garden Spring instructors develop and teach age appropriate gardening lessons to a group of up to 12 children with the assistance of two to three teen interns. Instructors incorporate into their lesson plans nature study, crafts, and cooking activities to support the gardening lesson of the day. Instructors must participate in 5 Saturday training and planning sessions prior to teaching in the Children's Garden program.
Duration: Training: 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23; Program: 4/5 – 6/1/12
Qualifications: College-level studies or career experience in education, urban agriculture, nutrition, botany, or environmental or biological sciences. Must have experience teaching children. Ideal candidates will have experience and comfort working with youth and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Work Schedule: Training: Saturdays, 9am-4pm;
Program: Fridays, 2-6pm and/or Saturdays, 9am-3:30pm.
Compensation: $10.00/hour
