This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Public Affairs and Advocacy.
Top-level Areas of Responsibility
Proactively track and manage all quality work, including staffing the Quality & Performance Measurement Committee. This also includes soliciting feedback from appropriate members on interest areas, and collating formal commentary to submit on behalf of AGS leadership.
Provide supporting role in society's policy and advocacy efforts, including AGS' regulatory work.
Manage the Society's external and strategic relationships, in order to increase geriatrics perspective within medical community.
Staff the RUC (Relative Value Scale Update Committee) SWAT (focus group of AGS members who discuss reimbursement/payment), and manage group activity and interaction on regular basis.
Staff the Research Committee and spearhead all AGS research activities, including the individual interests of the five subcommittees.
On-going Projects and Responsibilities:
Public policy activities include: ongoing correspondence with Public Policy Committee members and congressional staff to organize hill visits; drafting budget request letters to federal agencies; reviewing and analyzing legislation as needed; working with our consultants on our regulatory comments; writing weekly 'Federal Watch' – a collection of policy -focused stories for listserv; serving as point person for RUC SWAT.
AGS Quality activities include: staffing the Quality and Performance Measurement Committee, organizing and finalizing member nominations, comments, and votes.
AGS Research activities include: staffing the Research Committee and its Subcommittees; coordinating annual meetings with leadership from the NIA and VA; providing research updates to appropriate members; managing all logistical details and event planning for conference series entitled, U13 'Bedside to Bench.'
AGS Strategic Alliances include: serving as organizational point person when communicating externally, tracking and logging all activity in organized manner, developing bi-annual reports for the Board, and providing updates in quarterly newsletter.

Ability to work proactively while effectively keeping Manager abreast of weekly activity.
Understanding of non-profit and/or academic work environment is preferred but not needed.
Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook skills.
Effective project management skills.
Education & Qualification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Masters degree in related field is an added advantage.
