We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lead Biostatistician (Biostatistician II) in Shanghai, China.
Position Description:
Serve as statistical project manager, statistical consultant, and lead statistical analyst for Chinese research network projects requiring standard statistical methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the provision of full biostatistical support for clinical research network based in China. Determines statistical support requirements, negotiates timetables and coordinates work of statistical team supporting research projects.
- Promote good statistical practice for the support of scientific judgments and product claims.
- Play a lead role in the development and maintenance of systems assuring the timely provision of high quality statistical services.
- Serves as lead statistician for research studies with a variety of research designs.
- Assist Senior Biostatisticians in designing and carrying out statistical research.
- Train FHI staff and collaborators on basic statistical methodology and computing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Contribution
- Determine study design requirements. Prepare statistical sections of protocols (e.g., sample size justification and analysis plans) for clinical trials and other FHI 360 research studies.
- Perform statistical sections of research proposals.
- Perform statistical analyses for clinical research studies.
- Prepare statistical sections of study reports.
Expertise and Complexity
- With minimal supervision, manage high volume work flow.
- Knowledge of intermediate biostatistical methods (for observational and randomized studies).
- Experience in designing, planning and performing analyses of clinical trials or other health research studies.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, SUDAAN,SPSS).
- Strong quantitative, verbal, writing and organizational skills.
- Resourceful through technology, research skills, and relationship building among several organization teams and units and professional organizations to resolve problems and initiate enhancements.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements governing statistical aspects of research.
Type and Nature of Contacts
- Routine coordination with FHI 360 employees on-site.
- Routine contact with FHI employees and collaborators in the field.
- Frequent contact with senior research staff.
- Primary contact for lead researchers at collaborating organizations for whom FHI is providing biostatistical support.
- Interacts with statisticians at regulatory agencies to determine statistical requirements and communicate findings.
- Work with others to develop and maintain relationships among project staff.
Supervisory and Budget Responsibility
Prepares staff time estimates for determining cost of statistical services for life of study budgets.
May supervise Assistant or Associate Biostatisticians
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience:
BS/BA in biostatistics or statistics and 8-10 years relevant work experience, or MS/MA/MPH in biostatistics or statistics and 5-7 years relevant work experience or PhD/DrPH in biostatistics or statistics and 0 years of relevant work experience.
Bilingual Mandarin Chinese/English preferred.
Experience in TB research preferred.
