Market Development Manager, Greater Asia Huntsman - Singapore


Purpose of Position
  • What:
  • Main responsibilities include Sales and Market development for TPU applications in Greater Asia (ASEAN, Japan, Korea, Australia, New-Zealand). The role also includes an over-riding responsibility of local key accounts across Asia.

  • Identify and grow in profitable segments to ensure sustainable position outside China and Taiwan. Optimise route to market and capture opportunities, especially in emerging markets of Vietnam and Indonesia. 
Principal Accountabilities
  • To ensure that all work undertaken is carried out in full compliance with Huntsman’s EH&S procedures and policies and strive for continuous improvement in safety performance. Monitor compliancy to legal obligations. Utilise EH&S as tool to differentiate versus local TPU manufacturers.
  • Deliver sales objectives (volume, value, CM) in both short and long-term. Propose yearly sales plan with quantified targets and key actions. Develop direct sales and manage sales channels (distributors). Increase market share in designated segments. Identify and develop new sales opportunities. Take control of account receivables and debtors.
  • Manage key accounts in the region (moulders, OEMs, distributors). Build relationship at all levels at customers (senior management, R&D, purchasing) and establish link with related partners (machine suppliers, institutes, trading associations).
  • Build a team to capture new opportunities. Attract, develop and retain talents. Ensure that the required manning and know-how is available and continuously developed to meet the changing business demands. 
  • Ensure business is conducted according to professional sales processes (planning, key account management). Provide accurate reporting on customer visits and market data.
  • Plan effective use of resources (Technical Service). Coordinate activities with Greater China team (consumer and industrial TPU). Build a strong internal network with customer service, supply chain, marketing, technical development and finance.

Desired Skills & Experience

Training and Education
  • The ideal candidate should be educated to degree level in a technical (engineered polymer, polymer science, chemistry) or business related discipline (economics, marketing). Background in Injection Moulding and plastic processing is an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
  • The candidate should have an in depth knowledge of the thermoplastic industry (materials and processing).
  • A solid understanding of engineered plastics is needed, ideally having TPU knowledge. The candidate must have the ability to manage numerous applications (injection molding, extrusion, calendaring) for various industries (a.o. sport & leisure, footwear, ‘3C’ (computer/communication/consumer goods)).
  • A thorough understanding of marketing concepts and the ability to apply these competently across a range of different industries and business models.
  • Ability to lead a team and establish solid link with Asian colleagues is a must. Speaking fluently English is necessary.

Experience
  • The candidate, in addition to the education above should have a minimum of 10 years of commercial or marketing experience in the thermoplastic industry, with a track record of delivering valuable results.
  • The incumbent should possess in-depth knowledge of engineered polymers and plastic processing.
  • The candidate must have customer experience as well as an excellent appreciation for industry drivers.
