Postdoctoral Researcher, Urban Ecology Or Socioecological Systems, North Carolina State University

The Department of Forestry & Environmental Resources at North Carolina State University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to examine perceptions of vulnerability to climate change among a variety of stakeholder groups, including the general public; local, regional, and state decision makers and politicians; local regional
and state resource managers; and environment-oriented non-government organizations operating in five regions across the country with a primary focus on the Triangle Region, NC.

The work is part of a broader effort on urban resilience to climate change, funded by the
National Science Foundation and the US Environmental Protection Agency, that will
examine ecological and social drivers of resilience in urban hydrology. The postdoctoral
researcher hired for this position will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues
in Boston, Los Angeles, Portland, and Tampa. While coming up to speed on this project,
the postdoctoral student will be able to analyze data that we've already collected for
related inquiries and prepare those results for publication. Funding is currently available
for one year, with funding for an additional year possible.

Applicants should have a PhD focused on social sciences with a strong background in
environmental issues. Ability to design, conduct, and analyze large-scale surveys, focus
groups, interviews, and mixed-methods approaches is required. Must be able to travel to
other sites periodically. We prefer the successful candidate to start no later than 2013
March 1.

Salary between $40,000 and $46,000, plus NC State University's benefits package, will
be offered based on qualifications and experience. NC State University has mentoring
programs for postdoctoral students, including creation of an individual mentoring
program, career coaching, and professional development opportunities. North Carolina
State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. In addition, NC State University welcomes all persons without regard to sexual orientation or genetic information.
