icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Medical Technologist (Laboratory) (2 positions) with the Research Group of Surveillance and Outbreak Response under the Centre for Communicable Diseases. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 6 months, which may be renewable depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Duty Station – Dhaka Salary – Tk.25,412/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible. Job Profile Collect biological samples like venous blood, oral/nasal swab and urine sample, centrifuge blood and make aliquots for laboratory analysis; Conduct screening and data collection in field sites using paper-based/PDA based questionnaire; Prepare and transport samples to icddr,b laboratory; Proper storage of specimens and maintain laboratory records; Handle laboratory equipment, arrange their routine maintenance and repair. Requirements  Diploma in Medical/ Laboratory Technology with good academic records; 3 years work experience in laboratory technical procedures; Prior exposure in blood and other biological samples collection, centrifugation and serum separation; Ability to identify and facilitate prompt alleviation of any difficulties arising in the field related to the study; Capacity to recognize, communicate and mitigate any interpersonal conflicts that may take place among the team members or with the respondents; Knowledge in laboratory chemicals and reagents; Good interpersonal skills, team building capacity along with staff supervision; Basic computer skills; Proficiency in written and spoken English.
