Specific assignments may range from:
• Supporting the design of new products
• Supporting modification to existing design via Supplemental Type Certificate (STC)
• Conducting safety engineering related analyses of products and systems
• Generating internal documentation: procedures, methods, and guidelines
Task Description:
Perform safety assessments/analyses in accordance with ARP4761 & ARP4754A, including but not limited to, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Aircraft Safety Assessments (ASAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), and Common Cause Analyses (CCAs). This individual will also develop Derived Safety Requirements to help in defining system architectures during new development activity.
Assignment Complexity:
The individual will generally work on abstract or high level application problems which are difficult to define and whose solution requires the use or development of advanced principles and concepts. The individual may also be required to solve problems with little or no known precedents. The individual must be able to look at problems from multiple indenture levels within a system architecture.
Accountability:
The individual will work under general and limited direction in relation to long range organization and group goals. The individual will be held accountable for implementing the strategic direction set forth by the group manager.
Requirements:
• System architecture development knowledge is required
• Basic to advanced knowledge of the following avionics industry guideline material is required: ARP4761, ARP4754A
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is required
Experience with the following is a plus:
• DO-254
• DO-178B
• Civil Certification
• Appreciation for, and an understanding of, component failure modes and wear-out mechanisms
The individual must also have the following abilities:
• Self-motivation
• Effective oral/written communication skills (including technical writing)
• Effective interpersonal and team skills
• Capability to serve as a technical mentor
• Knowledge on how to prepare and present technical information to peers, to all levels of internal management, and to external customers
• Knowledge on how to coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering or science field and six years of related experience.
