ChildFund International is seeking a Writer/Content Specialist to write compelling and engaging content for a variety of electronic, social and print mediums to increase understanding of the organization and its mission for children. The Specialist stands at the nexus of communication between beneficiaries, donors, funders, employees and the public. The Specialist will be in frequent communication with ChildFund staff around the world and may have the opportunity to travel to ChildFund program sites.

The Writer/Content Specialist will research, write and edit for communications and social media initiatives and collaborate with colleagues to synchronize messaging across all communications platforms. The Specialist will edit communications materials produced by others to ensure consistent messaging, style and voice. S/he will compose and contribute to a mixture of communications initiatives including internal and external articles, fundraising proposals and social media campaigns. This position is part of a high performing, fast paced team.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of feature, magazine or copy writing in a professional environment, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Prior experience in multiple areas of communications, which should include web and social media
  • Evidence of ability to write persuasive, engaging copy that meets strategic objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in writing in a variety of formats and styles for multiple audiences
  • Expertise in AP style and grammar
  • Excellent research, reporting, interviewing, and project-management skills
  • Attention to detail and precision in communication
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically
  • Strong verbal communication/presentation skills
