The role
Reporting to the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Group Leader, the Associate - ESIA is responsible for leading, coordinating and managing project teams in the ESIA group and providing strategic advice to our clients and project teams regarding the environmental aspects of a project. You will also be required to develop networks with various organisations to provide new and improved services.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Manage the preparation of large reports (e.g., EISs, EMPs and similar), proposals and strategic documents (e.g., EMS). This may involve either direct authorship or coordination of others (internal and external) to write documents
  • Monitor and audit for compliance with statutory regulations, environmental laws and company policy
  • Provide strategic advice, added value and high quality service to clients
  • Undertake technical tasks and non-technical tasks and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of your work
  • Manage large scale complex projects with multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Fulfil specific key performance indicators developed in agreement with line management
The person
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in science, engineering or in an appropriate related discipline with significant experience in a private consulting capacity or relevant industrial/government sectors with a solid knowledge of environmental impact assessments, environmental management plans or similar.

Ideally, you will have substantial years of experience in planning, preparation of environmental and social impact reports, stakeholder engagement and extensive experience in project management and/or project directorship.

You will demonstrate a broad competence in environmental and social impact assessment, a familiarity with engineering design, construction and operation phase of major mining and infrastructure projects along with excellent planning, organisational and time management skills; a proactive approach to day to day operations as well as well-developed communication and presentation skills and a flair for mentoring and leading staff. Previous experience in a technical management or leadership role will be highly regarded. This role includes some travel within Australia and internationally.
