Junior Graphic Designer


£22,100 - £25,595 p.a. (dependent on skills and expertise) - Band BGlasgow
Specific Minimum Qualifications and Expertise
  • Educated to HND level, or equivalent.
  • Experience using MAC OSX and Windows OS.
  • Professional working knowledge of design software such as InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A good portfolio of work demonstrating all aspects of print & digital design.
  • Flair for working creatively within corporate identity guidelines.
  • A working knowledge of email marketing campaigns.
  • Creating print ready files and an understanding of the print process.
  • Proof-reading and checking to produce accurate and high-quality work.
  • Clearly communicates relevant information verbally and in writing to colleagues and stakeholders, in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Has a positive attitude when faced with barriers and find workable solutions.
  • Good organisational skills, with experience of working on multiple projects.
  • Excellent time management, with experience of working to tight deadlines.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Keeps professional knowledge relevant to the role up-to-date.
Purpose
The role will involve working closely with the in-house Internal and Digital Communications team to develop creative work. You will work with a more senior member of the team and take ideas from initial concept through to final artwork.  The role involves:
  • Designing and creating visually striking and distinct materials for Ofgem.
  • Ensuring that all designed and printed materials conform to the Ofgem style guide.
  • Ensuring that all printed materials and graphic designs meet current accessibility guidelines.
Key Outputs and Deliverables
  • To design and prepare a wide range of print and online digital materials, working on specific campaign projects, as well as maintaining a consistent brand identity for the business.
  • Produce inspiring internal communications, such as the staff magazine, newsletters, poster campaign materials and email banners.
  • Produce designs compliant with corporate styles and to ensure that Ofgem’s brand identity is applied consistently and coherently across all designs.
  • Follow design briefs, from concept to finished product.
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with all stakeholders over the production of material, within the agreed deadlines, specifications and restrictions for each individual job.
  • Image research for projects, as required.
  • Archive recording and storage of design work and images used.
Key Stakeholder Relationships
  • Liaise with the senior designer, the wider Comms team, and provide design support to all internal teams within Ofgem.
  • Liaise with external suppliers including printers, display material suppliers and paper manufacturers.
Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in artwork files.
  • Source new imagery.
  • Responsible to the Graphic Designer.
  • No line management responsibility.
