SPM - Technical Program Manager, India


Grameen Foundation helps the world's poorest, especially women, improve their lives and escape poverty by providing them with access to small loans, essential information, and viable business opportunities. It provides MFIs in poor communities with access to the capital they need to make microloans to those working to develop or expand a small business.
About the Job: 
Grameen Foundation is looking for a SPM - Technical Program Manager. S/he will support Grameen Foundation's Social Performance Management (SPM) and PPI efforts in India. S/he will interact with a variety of microfinance stakeholders by participating in conferences, conducting trainings, providing orientations, and facilitating workshops on SPM/PPI. The position will be based in Gurgaon, with an expectation of up to 30% of time traveling within the country. The position will be reporting to the CEO of Grameen Foundation.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Develop relationships with and actively educate key national microfinance actors and other social enterprises on the value, use, and implementation of the PPI and SPM tools;
  • Promote the PPI in the SPM context through various India specific outlets that may include conferences, industry working groups, publications, blogs etc.;
  • Deliver PPI implementation trainings and workshops to MFIs, networks, and various stakeholders;
  • Provide advisory services and training to MFIs on an as-needed basis on PPI and other SPM topics;
  • Communicate regularly with each member of the Asia Regional team to effectively manage current and potential efforts and coordinate monthly reporting to the SPMC team;
  • Work with external technical assistance providers and consultants to develop their capacity in supporting and implementing the PPI with partner organizations;
  • In conjunction with the SPMC and Asia Regional team, monitor the on-going social performance of partners using the PPI;
  • Identify new opportunities for expanding PPI in India, focusing on but not limited to the microfinance sector;
  • Assist in identifying and supporting network partners in developing a national peer learning network in India, which includes materials development, meeting arrangements and facilitation;
  • Participate in weekly calls to discuss the maintenance and support of the existing and potential India PPI relationships.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor degree required;
  • MBA or Master’s degree in relevant field preferred;
  • Minimum 5 or more years of work experience in related fields of which at least 2 years in microfinance;
  • Job experience in fields of microfinance, training, research, monitoring, and evaluation.
