Tajikistan Expert in Medical Education Reform


The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute is a public institution with the mandate to contribute to the improvement of the health of populations internationally and nationally through excellence in research, services, and teaching and training.
The Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) of the Swiss TPH conducts consultancy, project management, training and applied research work in international health. We are seeking for the position of a Technical Expert in Tajikistan from May 2013 onwards:
Expert in Medical Education Reform with relevant work experience in low and middle-income countries within a medical education reform project in Tajikistan funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), your tasks will include:
 Assist implementation of project activities in the area of training and continuous education of family practitioners (doctors and nurses) in close collaboration with relevant Tajik institutions
 Provide technical assistance to Tajik institutions involved in undergraduate, post university specialty training as well as retraining for family medicine
 Provide technical support to the curriculum reforms and pedagogical approaches in family medicine training
The long-term assignment as Technical Expert will be based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. To best fit into our active, interdisciplinary team we expect the following qualifications:
 Formal qualification in medicine or nursing, public health or a health related field (Master degree level). A postgraduate training in public health is an asset.
 Minimum of 7 years’ working experience in the field of public health and health reform in developing or transition countries
 Experience and expertise in curriculum reform of under-graduate and/or post-university training of family practitioners (doctors and/or nurses)
 Experience and expertise in pedagogical approaches and teaching
 Ability to work in a team
 Ability to communicate with national counter-parts and international partners
 Excellent command of English and command of Russian
A two years contract will be offered.
We are looking to have the successful candidate in place as soon as possible, but not later than May 2013.
