Volunteer Accountant

Our partner is an international NGO that improves access to water in the developing world. A volunteer accountant is required for 3+ months to mentor staff at the organisation's Country Office in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Two part-qualified staff would like mentoring and skill-strengthening in a broad range of areas:
Double entry book keeping, accrual basis of accounting Account reconciliations Documentation of internal controls & financial procedures Monthly management accounts Programme budgets Organisational budgets Cash flow budgeting Budget-to-actual reporting Preparation of annual financial statements Audit of annual financial statements Accommodation will be provided at no cost.
This role would suit an experienced accountant who can work independently. The volunteer would need to develop their own work plan and make recommendations for improvement and be able to implement them. Strategic advice would also be appreciated.
Accounting for International Development (AfID) arranges tailor-made volunteer placements from 2 weeks to 2 years with charities all over the developing world.
You could be training Tanzanians in bookkeeping, budgeting for a school in El Salvador, financial reporting for a hospital in Thailand or mentoring an INGO's new FC in Cameroon.
