Band 7Salary Scale: £30,460 - £40,157 per annum37.5 Hours per week
This is an exciting new role to support the laboratory’s existing business; to encourage innovation in the laboratory; and to facilitate the development of research opportunities through a variety of different funding streams.  We have a wide portfolio of existing and potential research and development activities including translational research in collaboration with Cancer Research UK; the University of Birmingham; other NHS Trusts and business partners in the commercial sector.
We are the largest NHS genetics laboratory providing an integrated and comprehensive service handling over 50,000 samples in 2012/13.  The WMRGL sits within a Genetics and Laboratories Directorate within Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, which is very supportive of future developments.
The successful candidate will be a graduate with evidence of study at Masters level or equivalent experience and several years experience of managing research or contract income.  We expect excellent written and verbal communication skills and an energetic commitment to ensuring we can deliver our ambitious agenda.
The postholder will have a key role in developing and refining this job description as the scope of the duties matures.
