Area Water Quality Extension Educator - University Of Idaho Extension


University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor, Area Extension Educator, Water Quality. The position is located at the University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene Center.

The Area Extension Educator will provide overall leadership and organization for water quality education and outreach programs, citizen science, and research for the Northern Extension District and the UI Coeur D'Alene Community Water Resource Center. Responsibilities include: coordination and continued development of the IDAH2O Master Water Stewards Program and coordination for educational programs directed at water/land managers, educators, conservation groups, and the general public in the Northern District. The Area Educator will serve as a technical advisor on regional water quality/applied research projects (inter-agency), and help revise and update water quality related publications (including BMPs for Forestry).

Tenure-Track
Salary: $45,000-$50,000

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned Master's of Science Degree in agriculture, agronomy, plant science, soil science, natural resources, geospatial technologies, environmental sciences or related disciplines.
Experience working with local, state and federal land management agencies.
Experience with GPS technology including ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software.
Demonstrated ability to work with groups, such as advisory groups, councils, coalitions and committees.
Experience managing multiple and varied tasks.
Experience with various water monitoring methodologies both in the field and in the lab.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Experience working effectively with individuals, groups and volunteers.
Knowledge, skill and experience in the use of computers for educational programming and management.
The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel and to participate in evening and weekend programs.
The candidate must be able to pass a background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working in Extension as an Educator or Area Specialist.
Demonstrated experience in the management and analysis of large spatial datasets.
Experience in extension and or/research focused on environmental quality impacts related to agriculture and natural resource development.
Experience in grant application and administration.
