Volunteer - English Skills Building Program


The Foundation for Public Health, Education, and Development (FPHED) is a small, grassroots organization working in the Bahraich District.

We are looking for a volunteer for six months (with the option to re-enroll for another six months) for our English Skills Building Program. In our newly opened school, we are establishing a separate English program for graduates that need to refine their English skills for improved competitiveness in the job market. As we are beginning this program, we are looking for a volunteer with excellent English to supervise teachers-in-training and partially teach classes.
 
This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to spend six months to a year in India or want to improve their Hindi skills.

Expectations:
-Rural setting
-Hindi-speaking social setting; English-speaking teaching setting.
-Supervisory role: 60% supervising and 40% teaching -Six month minimum commitment -Internet capabilities -Occasional vacations and holidays
 
Requirements:
-18 years or older
-Native English speaker
-Previous Hindi experience or travel in India ENCOURAGED. Should feel confident enough to travel by train, notify Hindi-speakers of emergencies, and communicate one?s basic needs.
-We will cover all costs EXCEPT international travel (airfare, visa costs, passport costs, vaccinations required for entry) and personal expenses.
Modest accommodation, local food, and basic amenities provided.
