Research and evaluate new business opportunities such as in/out licensing, collaborative research and development agreements, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions. Develop appropriate business plans & financial models to support these efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain expertise in relevant markets, competitors and technologies
  • Provide key assessments for new technology, product or market opportunities.
  • Research emerging trends in current and new vertical markets.
  • Recommend and justify new or complimentary products for development initiatives
  • Evaluate new intellectual property licensing opportunities and assess IP-related barriers and limitations in various new markets
  • Support contract and agreement structuring and negotiations for new business arrangements such as R&D collaborations, licensing, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions
  • Support due diligence, execution and integration/implementation planning
  • Responsible for Landscape Analysis for new application and vertical market opportunities
  • Business Case Development for deal assessment
  • Financial modeling in support of deals and transactions
  • Develop and prioritize deal and partnership opportunities for business units to address technology gaps, and optimize technology and product portfolios to help meet strategic business objectives
  • Develop opportunity and deal filters for business units to allow for focus on value added activities and more efficiently manage deal flow
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • 5+ years business development/strategy experience
  • Proven track record of identifying new business, structuring & negotiating agreements, and executing partnerships
  • Experience / knowledge (either as consultant or directly in the industry) in healthcare market
  • Cardiovascular experience is a plus
  • M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and/or transactional/licensing experience required. Ability to work well with variety of cross-functional areas, including marketing, finance, R&D, clinical and regulatory affairs, corporate legal, corporate treasury, and other functional areas
  • Solid understanding of corporate finance, well-developed quantitative and analytical skills, including ability to build detailed financial models to support evaluation of transactional/licensing opportunities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required
  • Highly motivated, with ability to excel in a lean, fast-paced, dynamic environment with high performance expectations
  • High initiative individual will work independently and within/ cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to see the "big picture"
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Strong problem structuring and problem solving skills
SAMPLE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision).
  • Ability to lift and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires moderate right and left hand coordination for the use of the personal computer
