Overview:
The Senior Deepwater Drilling & Completions Superintendent position which supports deepwater new build rig construction, commissioning and acceptance testing, deepwater well planning and execution in the UK Atlantic Margin West of the Shetland Islands and the Rosebank Major Capital Project. 

The superintendent will be accountable for the execution of the new build contract including rig construction, onsite management and interfaces, construction oversight, commissioning and acceptance testing. During well execution the Deepwater Superintendent is fully accountable for safety, operational effectiveness, and cost performance of all Chevron Upstream, Europe’s (CUE) Deepwater D&C Operations. 

The Deepwater D&C Superintendent will report to the D&C Team Lead, Rosebank Project and will be primarily engaged in supervising the Chevron yard team for the Rosebank new build MODU. The role will also provide operational input to well planning and manage detailed planning to operations. Once D&C operations commence, the role will have transitioned to reporting to the D&C Manager as for exploration and appraisal wells.

Position Details:Key Job Responsibilities for these positions:
• Degree qualification (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering discipline 
• Responsible for all exploration and appraisal well preplanning for deepwater (DW) wells using the SWCPDEP process. 
• Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships with Chevron Upstream Europe Value Creation Subsurface Teams, Drilling Contractor and UK Regulatory Groups. 
• Represent Chevron on all DCG matters related to UK Government with respect to DW well design and drilling operations e.g. The UK HSE, DECC and cross-industry forums such as OGUK, Well Life Cycle Practices Forum, etc. 
• Hold the position of Contractor Owner/Subject Matter Expert for DW drilling unit contracts.
• Directs and manages DW drilling, completion and well test operations within the scope to meet incident free operation requirements in the West of Shetland harsh weather environment. 
• Specifically responsible for compliance with all D&C Operations in well control, well design and construction, environmental impacts and all associated OEMS Policies: Safety Case, CUE SMS requirements, CHESM requirements, MOC, etc. 
• Ensures all operations are conducted within approved AFE limits and well programmes meeting specific value based well objectives which may include introduction of new technology. 
• Responsible for ensuring all D&C operations are fully coordinated with appropriate level of operation supervision both onshore and offshore. 
• Coordination and interfacing with the Value Creation and Asset teams to meet exploration and appraisal well requirements for delivery of the CUE Business Plan. 
• Ensures all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally-conscious manner by all employees and contractors. 
• Ensure competency of drilling representatives, particularly with respect to well control procedures. 
• Evaluates drilling contractors and service companies to ensure compliance with all HES and technical requirements.
• Serves as the appointed Technical Authority (TA) for Subsea Wells, a UK Regulatory requirement, with respect to well design and integrity for CUE subsea wells including deepwater wells but also subsea production and injection wells within the CUE Central North Sea assets (Alba, Captain and Strathspey). 
• UK Regulatory requirements call for ensuring all well life cycles are managed so that there is not an escape of hydrocarbons. 
• Identification, evaluation and remediation of all well integrity issues. 
• Work for subsea wells is all done under the approval and oversight of the DW Superintendent in authority as Subsea Wells Technical Authority. 
• Procedures and processes such as the Well Operations Policy, RUMS, Complex Wells Process, MOC are all used by the DW D&C wells team and the DW Superintendent as Technical Authority is responsible for the team’s proper use of these processes and procedures. 
• Provides front-line supervision for assigned Drill Site Managers, drilling, completion and well testing engineers and TA's.
• Responsible for competency and professional development of assigned D&C team members, including performance management, career planning, training, mentoring, coaching, etc.

For Rosebank activities, the position is responsible to the Rosebank D&C Team Leader in two main areas:
• Provides operational input into the Rosebank deepwater Major Capital Project for transition of the project to capture operational requirements and efficiencies: pre-planning, pre-drilling and development drilling & completion phases. 
• Responsible for the Rosebank new build deepwater MODU, which will be a 6th generation harsh environment DP semi. 
• Accountable for safe and efficient execution of Chevron activities during the construction process and implementation of Chevron policies into the process and rig design; approves equipment and process modifications to the drilling contract; reviews HAZOPS/HAZID risk assessments and manages MOC process; reviews and approves Chevron MODU commissioning and acceptance requirements; coordinates with drilling contractor on rig design issues and modifications, operation readiness, safety case development and interface documentation; works with contractor to schedule appropriate IFO workshops and Chevron and Rosebank Project onboarding; coordinates team-building and alignment sessions with contractors operations team; reports to management on construction progress, schedule and issues.
• As contract owner/subject matter expert, execute category management requirements for contractor management, performance and contract administration of the MODU contract following CUE and Chevron Global requirements.
• Periodic site visits to the Rosebank rig construction yard are anticipated, and this is expected to be in Asia.


Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Extraordinary coordination, communication skills and competency for rig operations within a harsh weather environment. 
• Meets the competency requirements to take position of Wells Technical Authority for Subsea Wells which is a UK regulatory requirement. 
• Provide operational influence for capturing of operational requirements and efficiencies 
• Lead team for tendering, contracting and building of the Rosebank MCP deepwater MODU. 
• Candidates capable of meeting North Sea statutory requirements in Offshore survival training and HUET.
