The Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) works flexible hours "as needed". Position requires bi-lingual Spanish/English speaking fluency. The TTS provides telephone-based tobacco treatment services through the Smoker's Helpline for the Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire Tobacco Control Programs. The Helpline hours of operation are Monday - Thursday, 9:00am - 8:30pm, Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm and Saturdays 11:00am - 3:00pm. Candidates are not guaranteed a specific number of hours to work. Shift differential is offered for positions with evening hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key functions:
• Provide proactive tobacco screening and treatment services to callers of varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds who are seeking treatment.
• Follow evidence-based counseling protocols utilized by the Helpline, incorporating motivational interviewing techniques.
• Monitor the status of counseling clients and update clinical supervisor on a regular basis.
• Complete accurate data entry for all service activities using our web-based database.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision, staff meetings, and in-service training sessions.
• Participate in program evaluation, outreach and promotional activities as needed.
• Conduct administrative tasks as requested to support program operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Undergraduate degree required, preferably in health education, counseling, social work or a related field.
• Previous experience in tobacco treatment required. Tobacco treatment certification preferred.
• Competitive candidates will possess excellent written and verbal skills, organizational skills, computer skills, and a strong telephone manner.
