Communications Consultant / Website Coordinator


A communication consultant is needed to join the Communication for Education and Gender Equality (CEGE) group in UNICEF’s Division of Communication. The consultant will act as central point of contact for the UN Secretary-General’s Education First initiative’s website and social media channels and work collaboratively with the initiative’s partners.
S/he will coordinate the production, maintenance and content development of the Education First website and social media channels; coordinate the timely production and dissemination of material and information related to the initiative; and other communication activities.
Qualifications
•Project coordination experience working on website development projects
•Excellent social media skills and comprehensive experience using Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, as well as other social media channels.
•Excellent English writing and editing skills
•Excellent networking and communication skills.
•Understanding of development issues and interest in education and gender equality essential, experience a plus.
•Experience working on projects of similar scale, involving multiple users and groups
•Experience in web site design, development and production.
•Professional graphic and web design skills. Advanced knowledge of web design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and ImageReady. Good knowledge of Dreamweaver and Adobe Acrobat/Distiller.
•Experience with UNICEF implementation of RedDot CMS, Wordpress and other current trends in technology essential, experience in other web content management systems a plus.
•Sound knowledge of HTML, CSS, including source code editing, image optimization, and FTP.
•Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the web development field.
•Experience with UNICEF and/or UN system a plus.
•Experience working on projects in partnership involving UN agencies, donors, governments, NGO’s and other organizations a plus.
•French and/or Spanish language skills a plus.
