Position Description:
Managed by FHI 360 in partnership with Action for Enterprise (AFE), ACDI/VOCA, MEDA, Save the Children and USAID, STRIVE is implementing four field projects in Africa and Asia between 2008 and 2014. Each project is pursuing a unique economic strengthening approach ranging from savings-led finance to workforce development to value chain interventions. Coupled with a robust monitoring and evaluation framework and learning strategy, STRIVE is tracking and documenting the impacts of these diverse interventions on child-level indicators related to both economic (financial), and non-economic (health, education, nutrition, etc.) vulnerability factors. As a result, STRIVE aims to identify and demonstrate interventions that can sustainably increase household incomes and/or assets and document how such increases improve (or fail to improve) the lives of children.
Under close supervision, an intern will perform entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training. The intern will be assigned to assist with research and conduct literature reviews, prepare annotated bibliographies and assist with preparing project documents based on the literature reviews and project data.
Job Responsibilities:
- Apply research techniques and analytical methods to the conduct of literature reviews and creating annotated bibliographies.
- Assist primary writer to draft learning products on various topics including the effects of economic strengthening projects on child well-being and the value of village savings and loans as an economic strengthening tool to improve household economic and child well-being.
- Conduct special studies in conjunction with a project, analyze data, and make recommendations based upon studies.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires intern to be currently enrolled in a MA or PhD degree program.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently after receiving guidance.
