Assistant Professors (Ref.:12-ASP-186-U) (Film Studies and Creative Arts)Monthly Basic Salary for Assistant Professor: HK$50,690 - HK$77,550, plus Monthly Composite Cash Allowance (Depending on the entry pay point, 5/30% of the Monthly Basic Salary, capped at HK$19,018).
Lecturers (Ref.:12- L-187-U) (Film Studies and Creative Arts)Monthly Basic Salary for Lecturer: HK$31,525 - HK$54,665, plus Monthly Composite Cash Allowance (5% of the Monthly Basic Salary, capped at HK$2,074)
DutiesThe appointees will be responsible for the planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) of courses in Film Studies and related disciplines in Creative Arts, such as Advertising, Animation, Digital Visual Effects, Media and Sound Design, Photography, and Visual Communication. They will be expected to undertake scholarly activities and participate in School/University activities and services. The appointee as Assistant Professor will also be responsible for programme administration/development, while the appointee as Lecturer will assist in such duties.
RequirementsApplicants for the Assistant Professor posts should normally have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline and relevant teaching/professional experience (preferably including programme and course administration). Applicants for the Lecturer posts should have at least a higher degree, preferably an earned doctorate, in a relevant discipline and relevant teaching/professional experience. Teaching experience with an interdisciplinary approach, particularly in the following subjects, will be an advantage: "Introduction to Advertising", "Principles and Practices of Mass Media", "Copywriting Workshop", "Advertising for Digital Media", "Branding and Visual Identity", "Digital Darkroom and Retouching Techniques", "Cinematography and Photographic Design", "Photojournalism", "Aesthetics of Photographic Art", "Advertising and Publication Design", "History of Photography", "Web Design and Interactive Media", "Museum Studies", "Concepts of Art Direction", "Life Drawing/Painting", "Cinematic Sound Design", "Principle and History of Animation and Visual Effects", "2D/3D Animation" and "Alternative Animation". For appointment as Assistant Professor, a record of research and peer-reviewed publications, involvement in professional and community activities are required. A good command of English, and preferably Chinese (including Putonghua) is a must for posts at both levels.
Terms of AppointmentAppointments will initially be made on either a 1-year or 2-year contract, subject to renewal by mutual consent. Remuneration package includes monthly basic salary, monthly composite cash allowance, annual leave, medical & dental benefits, life insurance and contract-end gratuity (inclusive of such statutory benefits as the Mandatory Provident Fund). The monthly composite cash allowance and life insurance are applicable to a 2-year contract only.
