Horizon Oil Sands
Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth. Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil. We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d. Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending forecasted at approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.
Be part of the exciting growth and expansion of the Horizon Oil Sands. The Horizon Oil Sands mine began operations in 2009 – this is a young mine with barrels of potential for you to make your mark! Due to the massive resource base, the mine and plant facilities are expected to produce for decades to come.
The Mine Planning Engineer (EIT) will develop and communicate detailed mine and reclamation plans through collaboration with mine engineering, mine operations, and upgrading and extraction engineers.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Contribute new and innovate ideas to improve and advance the Horizon Oil Sands mine
• Active role in the development of annual mine planning, as well as the life plans of the mine
• Collaborate with the mine operations team to ensure plan optimizations
• Ensure the Horizon Oil Sands mining operation is working in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Work with project costing as it relates to planning
• Maintain a high level of communication within the mine operations, geotechnical and tailings area
• Maintain and assist with equipment specification and selection
• Contribute to reliability and efficiency modeling
• Involved with mine equipment productivity analysis
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 1+ years of related industry experience with a degree in mine engineering (or a degree in civil engineering with related mining experience)
• Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Open-pit mining
- Mintec, Minesight or similar mining software package
- Microsoft Office Suite
