Reliability Engineer - Horizon Oil Sands

Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth. Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil. We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d. Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending forecasted at approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.

• Develop and manage reliability strategies
• Collect and analyze reliability data from field studies or data base. Correlate the data using well defined engineering techniques/principles/procedures and process engineering to resolve reliability issues
• Lead root cause failure analysis to eliminate future failures
• Interface with all departments to support maintenance functions and activities
• Troubleshoot machinery problems and perform component failure analysis
• Interpret vibration and lubrication data to monitor asset condition
• Develop and maintain reliability programs in the assigned areas
• Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), performance reviews and auditing
• Develop and validate PM (preventative maintenance) plans, maintenance strategies and spares requirement to ensure reliable operation of the plant
• Develop and apply company procedures for reliability analysis specific to the product/process.

• Typically 10+ years of related industry experience in oil and gas, with a minimum of 5+ years in an operating facility with an engineering degree (preferably mechanical or materials engineering)
• Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Good working knowledge in API, ASME and ABSA requirements
- Skilled in the field of rotating equipment
- FMEA, RCA, RBI practices and RAM (Reliability Availability Maintainability) Analysis
- Experience with condition monitoring and lubrication programs
- Extensive background in preventative maintenance and spare parts programs
