Project Coordinator, Arizona State University, Global Institute Of Sustainability


Grant Funded Position

This is a grant-funded position. Continuation is contingent on future grant funding.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Sustainability Consortium (TSC), an affiliate of the Global Institute of Sustainability and a joint venture between Arizona State University and the University of Arkansas, has a unique and exciting opportunity for a China Project Coordinator. The China Project Coordinator will work with the China Director to facilitate communication and interaction between TSC staff and corporate, NGO, government, and academic stakeholders globally, and in China, to develop knowledge and criteria concerning the sustainability of consumer products. The world's largest retailers and manufacturers are using these products to drive product and supply chain innovation around sustainability. This position is part of TSC's efforts to be a global effort.

Responsibilities include:

-Act as the main liaison between China Director and the TSC research teams in Arizona & Arkansas.
-Support China Director in managing Chinese research projects delivered by our Chinese Academic Partner and other partners.
-Work with TSC colleagues to manage the operational aspects of the China activities including financial planning, reporting, HR, partner & stakeholder liaison, meeting scheduling, and event planning.
-Travel to China facility approximately 2-4 times a year.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; evenings and weekends as needed.

The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) consists of over 100 corporate, NGO, government, and academic stakeholder organizations who are driving a new generation of products and supply chains that address today's sustainability imperatives. TSC is doing so by focusing on develop science and tools that enable rigorous and cost-effective measurement and reporting of consumer product sustainability. The current focus is on identifying environmental and social hotspots, and associated improvement opportunities and key performance indicators for several hundred consumer product categories. The Global Institute of Sustainability conducts research, education, and problem-solving related to sustainability, with a special focus on urban environments. The Institute initiates and nurtures work on issues of sustainability across many departments on the four campuses of ASU, and collaborates with other academic institutions, governments, businesses and industries, and community groups locally, nationally, and globally.

NOTES:
Additional Salary Information: $40,607-$60,000 annually; DOE

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science, business, engineering or related field AND three years of project management experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Fluent in both Mandarin and English required. Business experience in China. Knowledge of product sustainability in consumer goods. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to collaborate on complex issues, and to operate independently under minimum supervision.
