The role
Reporting to the Principal HSSE Advisor Geotechnics and Environments, the HSSE Coordinator Environments (QLD/PNG) will work in a small team and support the Principal HSSE Advisor in the development and implementation of the HSSE function for the local region. This role is to ensure that local operational needs and priorities of the business are incorporated in the delivery of a comprehensive and competency based HSSE outcomes for the local region.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support delivery of effective leadership and direction on HSSE with project teams
  • With direction, provide HSSE advice and assistance to support organisational needs
  • With guidance, support compliance with the HSSE MS and local regulatory & client requirements
  • Assist with the implementation, maintenance and review of the HSSE MS aligned to IS014001 and OHSA18001 and local regulatory requirements
  • Support the development of a positive safety culture and risk approach to safety management
  • Assist with the development of tools and processes for the business to better achieve HSSE compliance
  • Coordinate and, where required, provide local HSSE training
  • Support the management of incidents, injuries and worker’s compensation claims.
The person
With demonstrated success as a HSSE professional within the construction, petrochemical and/or mining industries; you will have a good working knowledge of OHS legislation within Australia, and a strong ability to influence HSSE change.

You will have well developed written and verbal skills, as well as excellent time management and prioritisation skills. Essential to your success will be your ability to effectively advocate better HSSE practice, develop workable HSSE solutions and engage key stakeholders.

Some travel will be required for this role. You must hold a current valid driver’s license. Technical qualifications in HSSE or a related discipline is essential.
