Geotechnical Engineer (Perth) (or Engineering Geologist)


Exciting opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to work with a global organisation on diverse and challenging projects based in Perth, Western Australia.
About the role
Due to some internal, international transfers we are currently looking to recruit an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our busy and experienced team in Perth. You will be joining the Mining Infrastructure team based in Burswood where you can expect to get involved in some exciting and high profile projects. With a large client base and diversity of projects in size, complexity and project type, Coffey Geotechnics is certainly an employer of choice.

  • Reporting to the Team Leader, an intermediate Geotechnical Engineer will work as part of a team planning and undertaking both office and field work, completing investigation, design and full reporting of geotechnical projects.
  • Requiring an individual to work with minimal supervision, you will work with your technical community and receive unprecedented support, training and guidance from specialist Senior/Principal Engineers, Project Directors and have regular interaction with the wider Coffey group.
  • As a consultant you will be developing relationships with specialist contractors, clients and other consulting groups working across the state with opportunities of assisting on many of the major projects.
About You
The ideal person will:
  • Have qualifications in civil/geotechnical engineering or engineering geology
  • Ideally be a member of a recognized industry association or body
  • Ideally with a continued commitment to post graduate study would be advantageous.
  • Have relevant professional experience in a consulting environment
  • Have demonstrated experience in geotechnical site investigations and design.
    • Experience in foundation design, slope stability, retaining wall design, pavement design and/or rock mechanics.
    • Some experience in a supervisory role of specific stages of a project or overall small projects would be a huge benefit.
  • It is essential that you have strong written and verbal communication skills, you will have exceptional interpretative, analytical and project management skills as well as keen observation skills.
