NRS Follow Up Specialist (ESOL)


Family Literacy Program

Position: National Reporting Survey Follow Up Specialist

Supervisor: Director of Family Literacy

Overview: The Family Literacy Program provides ESOL and Technology classes to immigrant adults in New York City. University Settlement provides a comprehensive network of services to over 10,000 people of all ages lining in the Lower East Side. Its broad network of activities includes adult literacy classes, mental health counseling and intensive case management; group and family day care; support services to the formerly homeless; after-school and summer camp for children and teens; a senior center and a credit union.

Responsibilities: • Develop ESOL students' individual education plans with teachers and other staff to ensure that student goals are met. • Help students with referrals to other training programs and other education programs. • Work with teachers and other staff to ensure that student goals are met. • Do follow-up and outreach to help students be successful. • Attend workshops as required by the program. • Track progress of student achievement and attainment of NRS goals. • Perform assessments and tests as required by the program. • Maintain attendance and performance records for students. • Substitute in ESOL classes as necessary. • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree and experience in teaching ESOL required. • TESOL, English certification preferred, Best Plus Certified. • Bilingual English / Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese required. Spanish, Bengali, preferred.

Hours: 17 hours per week- 6:00p-9:00p (Tues, Wed), 5:00p-9:00p (Thurs) and 9:30a-4:30p (Sat)

Salary: $16.48 per hour
