Salary: £22,620 - £24,290 per annum
Applications are invited for a Research Technician to work on the NIHR HTA-funded research study “PREDICT (Prognostic evaluation of Diagnostic tests for progression of Latent TB)” within the Tuberculosis Research Unit, Respiratory Infections Section, National Heart & Lung Institute, based at St Mary’s Campus of Imperial College London. The Unit, led by Professor Ajit Lalvani, is a world class multi-disciplinary team of scientists, clinicians and research nurses investigating basic science, translational and clinical aspects of TB.
You will provide a range of technical support for the NIHR-funded PREDICT study. Under the direction of Professor Lalvani and the study Research Associate you will receive and process clinical samples using ex-vivoT-cell based assays including IGRAs. You will also maintain a Biobank of samples and provide data collection support for the study. In addition to research support, your duties will include administrative responsibilities for the laboratory.
You will have previous experience in laboratory-based research along with strong organisational skills and the ability to produce rigorous and accurate documentation. You will have good interpersonal skills to allow you to collaborate efficiently with members of other departments.
You will be joining a thriving group of dedicated scientists, students, doctors and research nurses with a shared mission to combat the global health impact of respiratory infections, including such diseases as pandemic influenza, other common respiratory viruses and Tuberculosis.
