Technical Officer
Salary up to £25,000 plus benefits, negotiable based on experience
The Energy Institute (EI) is the largest global professional body and learned society concerned with energy issues. The EI develops and disseminates knowledge, skills and good practice working to enhance the safety, security and sustainability of energy systems. In doing this the EI maintains a small but active Technical Team that develops codes of practice, specifications, standards and test methods for the energy industry. Key areas of work are within health, safety and asset integrity, the environment, and fuels and fuel handling.
The Energy Institute seeks an efficient administrator for its Technical Department. The position will assist in co-ordinating the activities of EI technical committees, supporting technical managers in the delivery of the technical programme and editing/preparing technical material for publication. Excellent organisational and administrative skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate well, including with senior representatives within the energy industry. A science or engineering degree and knowledge of the energy industry, would be advantageous but are not essential.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational, administrative, interpersonal and communication skills. They will be a highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates initiative and can work with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge of the energy industry and experience of committee work would be advantageous, but are not essential.
