Technical Manager – Distribution, Safety & Integrity
Three year fix term contract with option to become permanent
Salary up to £35,000 plus benefits, negotiable based on experience
The Energy Institute (EI) is the largest global professional body and learned society concerned with energy issues. The EI develops and disseminates knowledge, skills and good practice working to enhance the safety, security and sustainability of energy systems. In doing this the EI maintains a small but active Technical Team that develops codes of practice, specifications, standards and test methods for the energy industry. Key areas of work are within health, safety and asset integrity, the environment, and fuels and fuel handling.
The EI seeks an experienced project manager with interests in engineering, safety and integrity of plant and equipment to coordinate its programme of research and good practice development in fuels distribution and marketing, electrical safety and area classification. You will engage with stakeholders from industry, regulators and consultancies. A key requirement is excellent project management skills to run projects in parallel, manage budgets and ensure timely delivery of high quality technical publications.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and ideally a science based degree. They will be a highly motivated self-starter who will require a minimum of supervision. A science or engineering degree, knowledge of the energy industry, and experience of committee work would be advantageous but are not essential.
