The Centre of Excellence for Accounting and Reporting is at the heart of the BBC’s Finance function, delivering an integrated, sustainable and high quality accounting and reporting service to our business and Finance customers at the right level of cost.

Role

12 month attachment / fixed term contract 

 

You’ll work in Finance Operations and support the delivery of professional financial support to the Finance Operations teams, Divisional Finance Directors’ & teams and Corporate Finance. You’ll support one of three process teams (General Accounting, Programme Accounting & Capital Accounting) and work within a flexible pool of resource. You’ll produce and review divisional short & medium term plans in collaboration with cost centre managers, project custodians and embedded finance. You’ll also assist in the production of divisional budgets and undertake budgetary review and planning, inputting financial data into relevant systems. You’ll prepare balance sheet reports and maintain divisional balance sheet accounts (Capital & Working Capital) as well as preparing divisional balance sheet control packs. Alongside this, you’ll complete month-end financial processes (journal entries, reconciliation analysis/consolidation) and assist in closing year end accounts for audit and any year end statutory reporting. Furthermore, you’ll deliver continuous improvement and apply best practice to suggestions and recommendations to improve services across the team.

Requirements

You will be a highly organised individual with the ability to work flexibly in a busy environment. You’ll demonstrate excellent attention to detail with a track record of solving complex problems, and preferably hold a professional accounting qualification e.g. AAT, or equivalent qualification and willingness to consider further study as appropriate. Furthermore, you’ll be quality focused and ensure provision of a high quality accounting and reporting service.
