My client design and manufacture a range of electro-mechanical products that are sold all over the world. Due to expansion they are looking for an Engineering Design Manager to join their world-class Engineering Group.
You will be responsible for driving NPI programmes within the business. They are looking for someone with good knowledge of best-in-class processes around NPI with the ability to influence, change and ‘matrix manage’ cross-functional teams of electrical, electronic and mechanical design engineers.
The successful candidate will manage progressive change within the business establishing comprehensive NPI programmes and will have the right mix of tact and determination to see this through. They want some people will look up to, who is happy to stand up and be counted and therefore the key attribute this person must have is excellent leadership skills.
  
Role and responsibilities will include:
•        Responsibility for managing an electro-mechanical design team to enable the team to design, develop and deliver new products to market.
•        Actively progressing and managing assigned tasks from conception to completion
•        Providing design leadership.
•        Ensuring products are developed in line with an effective new product introduction process.
•        Improving the new product introduction process.
•        Ensuring diligence in leading, developing and achieving product design specifications.
•        Coaching and guidance of all staff within the team.
•        Supporting and leading the team to provide exceptional engineering resource.
•        Leading by example.
Company/Industry Knowledge
•        Broad knowledge of mechanical design including 3D CAD, FEA and calculations .
•        Previous relevant engineering management experience in both mechanical and electronic design.
