Position Summary
This newly created role will be key to establishing/upgrading/maintaining the L48 Land GIS system and standards within BG Americas, as well as enterprise-wide GIS projects.
Key Accountabilities
Work effectively with partner company's GIS team and the BG Land Advisor to ensure assets are accurately represented in the electronic database.
Use GIS software to perform basic geoprocessing tasks, data digitizing, feature creation or editing.
Create and edit map labels, annotations, symbology, representations, and legends.
Conduct data research and compile spatial data.
Provide quality assurance for geospatial data and maps.
Assist with the creation of high-quality cartographic products.
Assist in the update and creation of land parcel boundaries using appropriate tools.
Support enterprise-wide GIS projects.
Assist with wide format scanning or printing.
Create, edit and inventory GIS metadata.
Maintain intra-office communications to share data, procedures, efficiencies, and problem-solving.
Follow required policies & procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls in daily activities.
Will advise on GIS system or process enhancements.
Performs other related duties/or special projects as required.
Maintain all Land GIS systems and standards. Become an expert within the business in all Land systems and standards.
Train others to use all Land GIS systems.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed: 
Requires proven, prior experience in geography or GIS. Oil and Gas industry experience is preferred. College classroom instruction in GIS may be substituted for work experience.
Knowledge of US Lease/Contracts Management is preferred.
Experience working in a joint venture environment preferred.

Specialist Knowledge/Languages:
 
BA/BS in Geography, GIS, Geology, Computer Science, or equivalent. Petroleum/Energy Land Management Degree or equivalent a plus
Comprehensive knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS suite (9.x & 10.x).
Ability to design and implement GIS systems integrating multi-department inputs to reflect growth in business needs
Ability to manage and coordinate GIS contractors, and complete large projects timely and efficiently.
Excellent computing skills.
Experiential knowledge working in a land function that is at the early stages of set-up, where creative thinking and problem solving are keys to success.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Experiential knowledge with imaging software.
Experiential knowledge with Quorum, Excalibur or TOBIN software applications preferred.
Able to follow structured systems and process protocols.
Organizational skills.
Able to work to demanding deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Detail oriented.
Accurate, precise & thorough data processing skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a collaborative team environment.
Effective communicator desiring to work in a collaborative environment.
