Systems Engineer - Head Up Guidance Systems at Rockwell Collins

Immediate opportunity available in the Portland, Oregon metro area for a talented, motivated System Engineer to design, develop, and test a variety of products including Head-Up Guidance Systems, Helmet Mounted Display Systems, and innovative new display products geared toward the corporate jet market. With an emphasis on product quality, we are developing systems which bring improved value to the flight deck through enhanced situational awareness, lower operating minima, and added safety benefits. From being the head-up display provider for the Boeing Dreamliner to the helmet display provider for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Rockwell Collins continues to build trust every day.

Our Systems Engineering team is responsible for overall head-up guidance and helmet display system definition, including the definition of interfaces with aircraft, the definition of desired HGS functionality (including display formats and behaviors), and the verification and validation of the correct implementation of these defined characteristics, as well as LRU system definition and qualification. The Sr Systems Engineer will lead engineering design, development, integration, and test activities on helmet mounted display and head-up display programs. Individual will act as the lead for definition of system level design for proposed avionics systems and will lead the technical transition from proposal to the development program.

Systems Engineering duties and responsibilities include:

• Identification of system-level requirements and preparation of system specification, wiring diagrams, interface control documents, hardware requirement documentation, and software requirement documentation.
• Research and identification of aircraft interface characteristics; generation and maintenance of aircraft and HGS interface database used in the preparation of wiring diagrams to support interface definition
• Preparation of system functional test procedures and creation of traceability from system functional requirements; providing inputs into development of standard test procedure format and test coverage analysis.
• Execution of system-level test procedures and identification of anomalies in test procedures, test equipment operation and system under test operations
• Individual will support multiple system engineering processes including: requirements capture, system level design trades; design reviews; internal and external interface requirements development
• Individual must be able to serve as the primary technical interface between suppliers, major subcontractors, prime contractors, and end item users.
