The role
Reporting to the Resource Geology Manager, the main objective of the Associate/Specialist Resource Geologist is to carry out resource estimation and to work with geostatistics, audits, due diligence studies, feasibility studies and technical reports. Other key responsibilities include maintaining internal quality control, managing peers and conducting peer reviews of projects and technical reports. This includes training and the technical development of resource group personnel.

The Associate initiates or participates in short-range or long-range planning and makes independent decisions on policies and procedures relevant to their discipline within an overall program.

This role will act as a positive role model and will lead by example through the contribution to and the promotion of a safe, satisfying and challenging work environment. Through focus on technical excellence, the role will contribute positively to both Coffey Mining’s reputation and the planned profitability for the region. 

Key responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:
  • Carrying out resource estimates, geostatistical studies, audits, due diligence studies, feasibility studies and technical reports
  • Managing peers, including conducting peer reviews and maintaining internal quality control as directed by the Resource Geology Manager
  • Training and technical development of resource group personnel
  • Independently identifying programs and problems to be investigated 
  • Assisting in the establishment of discipline-related policies and procedures as directed by overall organisational controls
  • Assisting in managing the work financially, technically and contractually
  • Maintaining industry awareness.
The person
You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and preferably be a member of AusIMM, AIG or similar ROPO. A commitment to continued post-graduate studies would be advantageous.
You will have substantial experience in the industry. You have excellent project management skills and have experience in resource estimation, geostatistics, variography and linear and non-linear estimation methods. Your background includes exposure to multiple commodities including Au, Ni, Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe, U, and PGM’s.
