Program Professional - Earth Ethics Institute, Miami Dade College


The Part-Time Program Professional for the Earth Ethics Institute oversees AmeriCorps VISTA members and student assistants assigned to EEI, assists Director with development of yearly programs for faculty/staff and students, and collaborates with faculty and staff on campus sustainability initiatives both academic and operational.


- Manages EEI office and staff including AmeriCorps VISTA Members and student assistants to support faculty and students
- Assists the Director in Earth Ethics Institute with program development and outreach both for employees and students
- Consults with the Director concerning budget for the Campus
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to identify and offer needed environmental sustainability and Earth Literacy programming
- Serves on Campus Green Team and assists the Chair with programs and projects
- Researches and identifies funding opportunities
- Approves faculty and staff projects in accordance with program guidelines
- Reports Earth Ethics Institute projects to campus administration, interacts with campus administration, and oversees campus sustainability related issues
- Assists in grant writing activities
- Assists in the development of assessment tools of existing and new programming
- Manages campus EEI programs for faculty, staff and students
- Helps director conduct program assessments
- Performs other duties as assigned

Skills / Requirements
- Masters Degree in related field; or Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in program development or related field
- All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Ability to express initiative and sound judgment
- Ability to use tact in working with faculty and staff on sustainability issues and possess a good understanding when approval from administration is necessary
- Possess excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
- Possess strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and computer literacy
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including an occasional weekend assignment
- Ability to be thorough, detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to manage and work independently and effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
