Position Description:
The anticipated USAID-funded Community Engagement Program in Jordan seeks to address immediate and medium term stressors in communities with the goal of strengthening Jordanian communities to mitigate and resolve tension and instability caused by both domestic volatility and the massive influx of refugees.

The Project Director/COP will be the project’s senior supervisor in Jordan and will oversee all aspects of program performance, both technical and managerial. The Project Director/COP will serve as the project’s principal contact point for USAID, and will also be the project’s main contact for political stakeholders and civil society.  The Project Director/COP will supervise the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of all local staff and consultants.  S/he will have overall responsibility in the areas of operations, administration, logistics, procurement, budgeting, and financial accounting.
 
Required Skills, Abilities & Experience:
  • Experience living and working in MENA, Jordan preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and navigate politically sensitive terrain;
  • Familiarity with USAID programming, rules and regulations;
  • Fluency in written and verbal English; Proficiency in Arabic strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel within country or region and internationally if needed.
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in international affairs, political science, conflict resolution, international development, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years (10+ years preferred) of senior-level experience designing, managing, and implementing large, complex development projects preferably in the MENA region.
  • At least 5 years senior-level experience in conflict mitigation, civil society, governance, community development and engagement, or other related DG sectors.
*Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job.
